What is D&Z?

D&Z is a conversion kit for turning Dungeons and Dragons 5e into a modern day post-apocalyptic tabletop RPG

It contains all the information necessary to easily play a zombie survival role play game, while using the base mechanics of D&D 5e so you can quickly pick it up and start playing! The Players Guide contains all the rules and information to begin. It also provides you with the official Backgrounds, Hobbies, and Body Types. These are the mechanics that make up D&Z. The Game Masters Guide includes monster stats, loot tables, and other helpful GM tools for seamlessly running a custom survival TTRPG. Lastly, the Character Sheets include everything from clothing slots and weapon modification tables, to inventory space and vehicle menus. Armed with these assets, you will be on your way to enjoy the end of the world.

D&Z is always being updated; look out for new content, bug fixes and other changes!

D&Z started as a small project in 2018 that I developed just for myself to run a homebrew zombie survival TTRPG for my table. I always had a love for zombie and survival video games like The Last of US, Day Z, Unturned and Left for Dead; and I wanted to bring that to D&D. But I struggled to find anything like what I was looking for. There was nothing I could find on the internet that was sufficient. So I began crafting my own. Months of work went into designing the mechanics, the backgrounds and hobbies and balancing the stats. I often spent days at my grunt work grocery store job at the time, zoned out, daydreaming about new ideas for D&Z. Eventually, I decided I had enough information written out that I could share it with the public. I made a Reddit and D&D Beyond post, announcing the homebrew project, and unknown to me for years, It had gained a small fanbase.

I abandoned the project shortly after for 3 years, and in 2021 I returned to it. I began a major overhaul to the crudely designed original files. Finishing missing content, adding new mechanics, adding artwork, etc., to a point that is now presentable and pleasing to the eye.

I'm always open to new ideas and help from the community to better the game.
